MAINTAINING A HEALTHY WEIGHT IN PREGNANCY
Carrying a child is a wonderful experience that a Mother should be able to enjoy. Maintaining a healthy weight helps to make this possible.
MAINTAINING A HEALTHY WEIGHT IN PREGNANCY
Each expecting Mom is an individual, which, of course, means her pregnancy is going to be unique to her. When it comes to how much weight is gained, it is dependant on the individuals’ body changes to accommodate for the pregnancy.
Eating For Two
Some individuals believe that once they become pregnant that they are eating for two. Therefore they will significantly increase what they normally eat. It is true that there are two to feed, but it’s a little more complex than that. It’s not simply a matter of increasing the amount of food that is consumed and all will be well. To begin with, the baby feeds off of the Mom. The child does not have a direct food line to Mom’s stomach.
Your Doctor will strongly advise you against gaining too much weight. If it is too severe it can cause complications through your pregnancy and it will be all the more difficult for you to lose it once you have had the baby. In addition to this, you are going to be very uncomfortable during your pregnancy with the excess weight.
Ideally, if you were within your normal weight range when you became pregnant the normal weight gain should be within 25-35 pounds. If you were over weight to begin with, then the weight gain should be maintained between 12-25 pounds. If you increase your calorie intake by about 300 per day, you should find that to be enough.
Eating Healthy
The most important thing to remember is an expecting Mom must eat healthy. Even if, prior to their pregnancy, they didn’t pay much attention to their weight or what they ate, now is the time to do so. Here are some guidelines to follow: Read the full article.
